Storing a tractor and trailer is hard to do in most major cities. You need a spot that is secure, has the right flooring, and is large enough to fit something 75+ feet long. There are a few ways to go about storing your big rig whether you just need storage for one trailer or if you have a fleet of 500+ and you need a large commercial yard. Here are some of the methods we have used to find our customers great semi-storage spaces for their trucks and trailers.
1. STOW IT Semi Storage
We can’t write an article and not mention ourselves. STOW IT is a marketplace for vehicle storage including semi-truck and trailer storage. We work with 50+ semi-storage yards throughout the country to offer safe and secure storage. Each yard varies based on amenities and pricing but many of the yards can’t be found anywhere besides STOW IT. If you haven’t already searched for storage near you, you can do so at www.stowit.com.
You can find this yard in Fort Worth, TX on STOW IT.
2. Craigslist Parking and Storage Section
Craigslist Parking and Storage section is a tried and true way to find parking and storage. The only caution is that Craigslist is full of scams. We recommend looking at your local craigslist but always contacting the owner and seeing the lot before any money is deposited or paid. Find your local Craigslist here: https://www.craigslist.org/about/sites
3. Google Search for Semi Yards
Many yards don’t have a website but the ones that do will usually pop up pretty quickly on Google because of the limited number of storage yards in each city. A quick search for “Semi Storage Yards near me” should give you a few results and lead you in the right direction. However, many yards do not let you book online and you should always call the semi-storage yard to make sure they have room before just showing up at the storage yard.

4. Brokers for Fleet Storage
If you are storing multiple trucks and trailers you may want to consider a semi-storage broker. These are usually individuals or companies that are well-connected within the semi-storage and commercial real estate industry that can help you find the storage you need quickly. This service does usually come at a high cost. Often, they will charge you or the storage yard the first month’s rent amount or an ongoing fee each month. Many yards will not work with brokers or pay these fees, so this may also limit some of your potential options. Most of the time using a broker to find semi-storage is reserved for large fleets that need 50+ spaces.

Brokers are a great way to find storage for a large fleet of trucks or trailers.
5. Ask Other Semi Drivers about Storage
The last way we will mention is to ask fellow drivers about semi trailer storage. If you live in a city or have an HOA, you must find storage for your truck and trailer in most cases. Many drivers are passionate about the storage facilities they use, and some facilities even offer referral bonuses. If you already use a yard for semi storage, it may be worth contacting your yard to ask about a referral program for any new renters you can bring.

In summary, if you are looking to find semi-storage expect the process to take hours or even days if you need semi storage for a full fleet of vehicles. Storage is not something you want to have to worry about last minute. We recommend checking with others or looking at marketplaces like STOW IT first since these can often provide the easiest and best solutions.
